I'm so excited for this year in 6th grade math at Hamilton. This will be my first year living in Denver. I moved here from Birmingham, Alabama with my husband Jay and our black lab Sherlock for Jay's residency at Children's of Colorado. I also a have a sister, brother-in-law, and nephew in Denver. My parents and younger brother live in Chicago, where I grew up. I also lived in Nashville for 6 years to attend Vanderbilt University, where I got undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and Secondary Education, and a master's degree in Teaching and Learning in Urban Settings. I have enjoyed teaching middle school math in both Nashville, TN and Birmingham, AL. My main goals as a teacher are that my students are known and cared for, and that they see themselves as capable mathematicians that are able to problem solve, create, question, and explore mathematics in the world around them.
Outside of the classroom I love to dance, sing, play violin and guitar, hike, attempt to train my puppy, hang out with my family, and read. I teach Irish dancing for the Wick School of Irish Dance and have loved dancing since I was 6 years old. I hope to share my interests with you this year and also learn about yours! Please contact me with any questions or concerns- it's going to be a great year!
